South Carolina at Georgia will be an exciting match up of top prospects. Junior shortstop Gordon Beckham will face off against the likes of Justin Smoak, James Darnell, and Reese Havens. All four have a chance to be drafted in the first few rounds this June.
Virginia brings its strong starting pitching of Jacob Thompson and Pat McAnaney to Florida state this weekend. Florida boasts one of the top offenses in the country, yet neither team has faced off against a top 25 opponent this year. Buster Posey and Tony Delmonico must create runs to give their pitching staff a shot against the Cavs.
Southern Cal plays at UCLA, and two of the most talented shortstops in the country will be on display. Sophomore Grant Green could be a top 10 talent in the ’09 draft, while shortstop Brandon Crawford is showing everyone why he is one of the top athletes in the nation.
Vanderbilt plays Ole Miss, and Friday night should be an exciting game when Mike Minor faces off against Lance Lynn. Pedro Alvarez and Ryan Flaherty are finally back in action together and may be the best left side of the infield in the country.
Top ranked Arizona state battles Stanford this weekend in Pac 10 play, while Clemson plays Miami in Coral Gables.
