In the second game of their Pac 10 Conference series, UCLA defeated Arizona Saturday by a score of 20-6. The Bruins offense, which had been a question the entire season, busted out for 22 hits, including 9 extra base hits. Shortstop Brandon Crawford went 4-7 with 3 runs and 2 RBI in the huge win for the team, which now is looking to make a similar mid season run like last year. Crawford hit a two run triple in the top of the third. Jermaine Curtis was 4-6 with 3 RBI and one run, while first baseman Casey Haerther was 7-7 with 4 doubles, 4 runs, and 4 RBI. Haerther is the first Bruin to record at least 6 hits in a game since Chase Utley went 6-6 on May 9, 2000.
The Georgia Bulldogs evened their series with Mississippi State with a 5-1 win. Shortstop Gordon Beckham snapped out of a small slump by blasting his 14th home run of the season.
In a 13-7 win over Kentucky, third baseman James Darnell homered 3 times to lead South Carolina. Reese Havens and Phil Disher also hit home runs in the game. For the Wildcats, center fielder Colin Cowgill was 3-4 with 3 RBI, including his 8th home run of the season.
Long Beach State lost their first series of the season in a 10-6 loss to Cal. First baseman David Cooper hit 2 home runs and second baseman Josh Satin went 2-4 with 2 RBI. For the Dirtbags, Danny Espinosa went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
In a 9-0 shutout of Southern Miss, freshman shortstop Rick Hague hit his team leading fifth home run of the season to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
