In Missouri’s second game of a swept doubleheader Sunday, sophomore righty Kyle Gibson pitched a career high 7.1 innings. He struck out nine in the 6-2 victory. Gibson allowed two runs on seven hits, improving to 3-0 on the season.
Vanderbilt defeated the University of Illinois-Chicago Sunday by a score of 9-3. Shortstop Ryan Flaherty went 3-4 with 3 RBI.
In Miami’s 3rd win of the weekend against Boston College, sophomore shortstop Ryan Jackson continued his hot hitting, driving in three runs and hitting his team high fifth double of the season. And Second baseman Jemile Weeks went 3-4 with an RBI. First baseman Yonder Alonso hit three home runs on the weekend and drove in six runs. He also walked five times for a .714 OBP.
In UCLA’s loss to St. Mary’s 4-2, five tool athlete Brandon Crawford showed signs of life, going 2-3. He hit .364 for the weekend with 4 runs batted in.
Georgia’s Gordon Beckham went 3-4 Sunday, extending his hitting streak to 13 games and has hit safely in all 10 games this season.
