On Sunday, Florida State completed their three game sweep of Virginia Tech by defeating the Hokies 18-12. Dennis Guinn, Buster Posey, and Tony Delmonico collected four hits each. Guinn hit back to back home runs in his first two plate appearances, as well as adding two doubles.
Sophomore Kyle Gibson won his fifth game of the season in a 12-2 win over Baylor. The righthander gave up two unearned runs in seven innings, striking out nine. Mizzou currently has its best record ever after 20 games played at 18-2.
After Saturday night’s game was postponed due to severe thunderstorms in the area, the University of Miami pummeled Wake Forest 23-2 in the makeup game Sunday morning at 10 AM. Jemile Weeks and Dennis Raben both hit home runs. The second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to bad weather.
Conor Gillaspie had three hits and three RBI in Wichita State’s 7-2 win over Illinois State. He led off the fifth inning with his first home run of the season and fell a single short of hitting for the cycle.
