On Tuesday, the Arizona State Sun Devils continued their perfect season (now 13-0) with a 6-5 victory over Arkansas. Junior Ike Davis was the star of the game, blasting two solo homers. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 shutout innings of relief to maintain the win. Junior shortstop Marcel Champagnie hit a solo home run in the second inning before Davis hit his first in the fourth. Ike’s second blast tied the game in the seventh.
UCLA produced 14 hits in a 11-3 win over Pepperdine. Junior Shortstop Brandon Crawford is beginning to bust out of his early season slump, going 3-5 with one run and one RBI. Senior second baseman Alden Carrithers hit his first home run of the season as well as a triple. He finished with a run scored and two RBI. Jermaine Curtis went 2-3 with a double.
Junior first baseman Yonder Alonso hit his fourth home run in four games as the Miami Hurricanes defeated Penn State 10-0 in Coral Gables. He finished 4-4 with two RBI. Sophomore catcher Jason Hagerty hit his fourth homer as well, as the team collected a season high 15 hits.
In a rain shortened game that will continue Wednesday at 2pm, the Georgia Bulldogs took an 8-2 lead over Florida State in the fourth inning of play. At Dick Howser Stadium, Gordon Beckham crushed his team leading seventh home run with a two run shot to left off righty Mike McGree. Seminole outfielder Jack Rye hit a two run double.
