On Friday, Mizzou stud righthander Aaron Crow pitched his first career complete game shutout in a 6-0 win. Crow struck out 15 batters, scattering 7 hits and did not walk anyone.
In their SEC opener Friday, Vanderbilt battled South Carolina and won in the 13th inning behind the clutch hitting of shortstop Ryan Flaherty. He hit a game tying solo homer in the ninth before he hit a walk off single in the 13th to win it for the Commodores. "It's something I have always wanted since I was a little kid, whether it was football, basketball or baseball, to have the ball when the game is on the line," said Flaherty. "I was fortunate I had a couple of opportunities tonight and I was successful. I have had other opportunities where I came up short, so it feels good when you come out on top." Starter Mike Minor pitched well, getting the no decision. In 8.2 innings, he struck out a career high 10 hitters.
Friday also saw the return of Cal Bear ace Tyson Ross, pitching for the first time since Cal’s season opener. He pitched 5 innings, striking out 3 and allowing 3 runs.
In his first complete game of the season, Andrew Liebel of LBSU allowed just one run on six hits to defeat the USC Trojans 2-1. Shortstop Grant Green recorded a pair of hits, including the lone RBI for his squad. Dirtbag shortstop Danny Espinosa displayed some nice glovework in the ninth, taking hits away from Green and Roberto Lopez to ensure the win.
Shortstop Brandon Crawford continues to heat up, going 3-3 Friday with 2 runs batted in and scoring a run to lead the Bruins to a 10-6 win over Cal Poly. Crawford reached base in each of his five plate appearances.

In their second game of the series on Saturday, Alden Carrithers stole the show, going 4-6 at the plate in a 12-9 victory. The senior second baseman had 3 RBI on the day and leads the team with a .444 batting average through 15 games. Third baseman Jermaine Curtis went 3-6 with a home run and four runs batted in.
