Crow Extends Scoreless Innings Streak to 33.2, UCLA Defeats Arizona in 10

Mizzou's Aaron Crow struck out nine in eight scoreless innings, allowing just two hits en route to a 1-0 win over Texas Tech. His scoreless innings streak is now at 33.2 innings, and his record improves to 6-0. Head Coach Tim Jamieson had this to say after the game, "Aaron had good stuff and really worked hard all night. He only gave up the two hits and one of those should have been an out. I was tempted to send him back out there for the ninth, but he just threw too many pitches."

In another 1-0 pitcher's duel, San Diego's Brian Matusz won his fifth game of the season against conference foe Santa Clara. In his second complete game of the season, Matusz struck out eight, allowing no runs on seven hits. He lowered his ERA to 1.81.

In Tucson, UCLA defeated Arizona 4-3 in 10 innings. Third baseman Jermaine Curtis led the way for the Bruins, going 4-5 with two runs scored. Shortstop Brandon Crawford went 2-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Putting his early season struggles behind him, Crawford is now hitting .308. It was senior second baseman Alden Carrithers who provided the game winning hit in the 10th, hitting a triple in the 10th to put his team ahead for good. Wildcat center fielder Jon Gaston went 4-5 with an RBI.

Kentucky blasted five home runs in a 15-3 win over South Carolina. Every starter for the Wildcats had at least one hit, and Collin Cowgill hit his seventh homer of the year, while Sawyer Carroll hit his eighth. Kentucky improves to 22-2 and 5-2 in the SEC.

Tyson Ross began the game with three perfect innings on the way to a 6-1 win over the Dirtbags. He struck out six over eight scoreless innings, enducing 14 ground balls, including two double plays.

USC Trojan shortstop Grant Green extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a 3-5 night in a 16-5 loss to Arizona State. He had two doubles and two RBi. For the Sun Devils, Petey Paramore went 4-5 and Ike Davis collected two doubles, increasing his total to sixteen.

Miami beat Duke 7-5 in 10 innings last night in Durham, NC. Dennis Raben broke a 5-5 tie in the 10th with a two run double to right. Raben finished 2-5 with two two run doubles. Mark Sobolewski went 3-5 with one RBI and Blake Tekotte went 2-4 and stole his 12th bag of the season.
